Our client is an early stage commercial spin out from a UK university, developing a novel biotechnology platform. They specialise in the design, production & testing of novel biomaterials and aim to become one of the front-runners in developing these materials. Products have potential application in personal care, adhesives and medical applications, amongst others.

Job Description

The company is seeking a Non-Executive Director (NED) to sit on the board of directors. This is a part time role, typically requiring a time commitment of 2-3 days per month. This would include formal board meetings to contribute to the effective governance of the company, providing oversight of strategy and business performance. It is also expected that you would act in an advisory capacity to the executive leadership to support strategy development and decision making.

Job Requirements

You should have a strong career history in one or more of the application areas served by our clients (see Company Overview). It would be beneficial (but not essential) if this were coupled with experience and knowledge of biotechnology, especially biomaterials produced through fermentation processes. You have likely served in a senior executive role on the leadership team for a related business and will have a good understanding of the commercial aspects of the business related to growth and commercialisation of innovative, early stage technologies. You will have the business experience, seniority and gravitas required to effectively and constructively advise, support and challenge the executive leadership, their assumptions and strategic plans. Previous experience as a Non-Executive Director is not essential but would be advantageous. Our client is seeking candidates who are Europe (preferably UK) based.
