Our client is one of the world’s foremost traders and distributors of sulphuric acid supplying industries worldwide.

Job Description

Our client has had an excellent two years during the commodities boom, as would be expected given the core end use acid markets of mining and fertilizers and volume increased strongly during this period. Over the last few year’s a solid trading strategy has been implemented but volatility remains high. The focus now is on managing risk. To this end the business is developing a greater downstream network of storage capacity to anchor the business but also looking to develop longer-term contracts via developing longer-term relationships.

To this end the company now wish to appoint a Business Development Manager to drive this initiative. Reporting to the General Manager based in Switzerland, the BDM will be based in Asia, ideally Singapore (Regional HQ so preferred), Bangkok or possibly Jakarta.

Responsibilities:

Business Development. Growth Strategy. Sulfuric Acid Supply Chain

• Assistance in structuring and development of long-term origination / sales agreements
• Identification / coordination of the development of asset-based investment opportunities

Long-term Strategic Analysis.

• Tracking of projects impacting long-term supply and demand trends.
• Monitoring of technological innovations potentially impacting Sulfuric Acid Supply Chain

Market Analysis

• Short-Term Tactical Analysis. Supporting trading activities
• Gathering of market data and insights supporting positioning in the SUA markets

Job Requirements

• Experienced BD executive with experience developing long-term relationships
• 15+ years of experience in inorganic chemicals, preferably sulfuric acid
• Experience of broader supply chains in volatile key markets, e.g., fertilizers
• Experience of account management to enable an asset-based strategy
• Experience in the development of logistics assets.
• Must speak English. Mandarin is a plus.
